Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I walk in the race?

a. We allow walking in the 5k race only. Memorial Day is a great day to enjoy the outdoors with family, be a part of our race and enjoy it! No matter how fast your pace may be.

2. Can I bring a stroller and push my child?

a. We welcome you to bring a stroller and child for the 5k race only. Our race is paved and will be perfect for strollers.

3. Will we be grouped together in any way?

a. We will have our opening ceremonies, then line up according to your estimated mile pace (8 minute/mile, 10 minute/mile etc.). Further instructions will be given in the days ahead on how we will do this. We desire those who run competitively to be towards the front.

4. When is packet pickup?

a. Packet pickup will be Sunday, May 27, from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM at 6015 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA. 16506.

b. Race day pickup will also be available from 6:15 AM until 7:15 AM for those unable to collect their packet on Sunday.

5. Will there be any in-person registration?

a. In-person registration will be available on Sunday, May 27 during packet pickup from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM as well as on race day from 6:15 AM until 7:15 AM.

6. Can I bring my dog?

a. Unfortunately, we cannot permit dogs.

7. Can I run without a shirt?

a. We would prefer that all runners wear a shirt throughout the race.

8. Is there a per mile time limit?

a. There is a 20-minute per mile time limit for the 5k race, and a 14-minute per mile time limit for the 15k race and 15k relay.

9. Who or what do the race proceeds benefit?

a. After all race obligations have been met all remaining proceeds will be split between Operation Christmas Child and the Elijah Lodge for Pastors and Missionaries, a ministry of Walnut Creek Baptist Church

10. Do you offer a military discount?

a. Yes! Please contact the race director at eriefreedomchallenge@gmail.com for a discount code.

      Is it possible to run the relay with only 2 people? And if so, how would one sign up for this way

        I’m sorry, but the relay does require 3 participants.

      i use a push rim raceing wheelchair i have compeated in many races however my spead is very modest about 9-10 minute miles i am wondering if i may sign up for this race also

        You can absolutely sign up. We will be closing off the course at about a 14 minute per mile pace. You shouldn’t have any problems.

      Hi there!
      My husband and I can no longer run the races which we’ve registered for. (How did our son’s high school graduation NOT get put on the family calendar?) Is it possible to transfer our entries to other runners?
